Also new tonight is the addition of a fancy new video camera. The reason for this is that when I sent out an email last week notifying anyone who hadn't attended a meeting they would be removed from TRACS (and thereby any email blasts we send out), there were about two dozen people who responded saying they couldn't make the meetings because of previous family or school commitments. Upon further interrogation, many said they would appreciate being able to watch a recording of the meeting afterwards so they can keep up on group decisions. Now we haven't cleared all this with the interpreter yet, so if he declines to be recorded we'll just leave him out of frame and only record the officers leading the meeting. Same thing applies to the captionists: if they don't want to be recorded (or have their screen recorded) then we'll just leave them out of frame and I'll recaption the video to post online (since I don't have the phonetic CART software the hired captionists will be using, but will be able to pause/rewind the recording, I'll be able to do a much better job than I have been doing trying to caption the meeting in real-time).
Anyway, what all that means is that our meetings (assuming the success of these 2 new technologies tonight) will be MUCH more accessible to all Bobcats, both during the actual meeting, and after the fact. See everyone tonight, and don't forget to check out Suzy's post below to see the pictures of our club's Bra (which tied for 3rd place) and be sure to mark your calendar as our (thus far) bi-monthly Deaf Coffee event this Friday at Wake The Dead Coffeehouse, and our Halloween Social the day before that at Tantra. Check out the Upcoming Events page for more info ;).
